Today in Little Rock, former state legislator and Adjutant General Mark Berry officially filed his candidacy for the vacant Senate District 26 seat. Senate District 26 was formally held by the late state Sen. Gary Stubblefield, and includes portions of Franklin, Johnson, Logan and Sebastian counties.

To define my position on the Franklin County Prison issue, I would like to use an analogy of a three-legged milking stool. All three legs of that stool must be at the same length, or the stool will fall over.

After prayerful consideration I am announcing my bid for the Senate seat formerly held by my good friend and my Senator, Gary Stubblefield. There are some big shoes to fill but I find myself uniquely qualified to serve as the Senator representing Arkansas Senate District 26.
